After two and a half years with Dynamic Discs, Missy Gannon will no longer be sponsored by the Kansas company after 2019.

“I wore the DD logo with pride on some of the biggest stages we have in our sport and I am so thankful for their support along the way,” Gannon said. “The future is bright and I am beyond excited for the journey that lies ahead!”

Gannon won the 2019 Pro Worlds Putting title and was promoted to the Dynamic Discs Touring team in 2019. She raised her rating to a career high 937 this season, 35 points above her end of year mark in 2018.

  4. Eric Oakley Extends Early With Dynamic Discs

Eric Oakley put his name to paper, inking a 1-year extension with Dynamic Discs. The extension is on top of his 3-year agreement from last offseason and keeps him with the Kansas company through the 2022 season.

“Oakley brings a lot to the table for DD,” said Eric McCabe, Dynamic Discs Team Manager. “Between running countless amount of clinics, playing in every tour event to being one of the most liked guys on tour, his value to us is high.

“‘Other’ Eric mentioned DD is where he wanted to be indefinitely, so we all came to the agreement of signing an extra year, and putting ink to paper was the best option at the time. I wouldn’t be surprised that after the three is up, he’ll continue the partnership for many more years to come.”

Andrew Presnell has agreed to a 1-year extension to remain on Discraft’s Elite Team through the 2020 season.

“Last offseason I had to learn a new bag,” Presnell told Ultiworld Disc Golf. “Now I’m just trying to stay sharp. I’m really going to focus on Circle 2 and forehands this offseason.”

Presnell previously threw a mixed bag while being sponsored by Full Turn Discs before joining Discraft in 2019.

A successful first year with a Discraft sponsorship leads Adam Hammes to sign a 2-year extension with the Michigan manufacturer that includes a promotion to the Elite team. He will be with the company through the 2021 season.

“Discraft is unmatched in our industry and it is an honor to stand side by side with the elite team and top players in the world,” Hammes said. “2020 is going to be a very exciting year and be on the lookout for my new Tour Series disc, The Wasp!”

Hammes stole the spotlight to start the year by beating Paul McBeth in both players’ Discraft debuts at the Wintertime Open.

  20. Ben Askren Retires From UFC So Maybe Now We’ll Get To See Him Challenge Disc Golfers Full-Time

Ben Askren has promoted disc golf throughout his mixed martial arts fighting career, and after announcing his retirement from the sport on Monday, the 2011 United States Amateur Disc Golf Championship runner-up may have more time to hit the course.

Our immediate thought went to the potential match-up of Askren and Brodie Smith taking on Paul McBeth and Simon Lizotte in doubles, but Askren’s bad hip may delay that showdown.

Simon Lizotte Paul McBeth Brodie Smith Trick Shot

There’s not really a “battle” per se, as no one was keeping score, but Simon Lizotte and Paul McBeth joined ultimate player and known trick shot aficionado Brodie Smith for a video a year in the making.

The trio teased the Jomez Pro-filmed video around this time in 2018 — McBeth was spotted in the Discraft shirt before his move from Innova was official — and we’ve been waiting for the final cut to make it through Smith’s editing queue.

Smith did also promise he’d enter his first disc golf tournament if the video hit 10,000 likes, so you know what to do.

Juliana Korver won the Masters division at the 14th Annual Phoenix Ladies Open by 13 strokes, and she added an exclamation on the W with the picture-perfect ace.

Korver was able to run the pin with no hesitation as the basket sat perched on a hillside. The disc maybe deviated 6 inches left or right during its flight on the way to the chains.

  29. Third Crush: Discmania Inks Finnish Champ Oskari Vikström To Extension

Having won the 2019 Finnish national championship and earning an invite to his first United States Disc Golf Championship, teen Finn Oskari Vikström had a big season and has been rewarded with a two-year contract extension with sponsor Discmania through 2021.

“Oskari’s game at this point is strikingly similar to that of Simon and Eagle in their teens,” said Jussi Meresmaa, CEO of Discmania. “It’s still hard to believe that Oskari is only 16 years old. I see him making big moves on the international scene in the upcoming year or two.”
